Governance
The SAAFP is a section 21 company originally established in terms of the Companies Act no 61, 1973. This Act has now been replaced by the Companies Act no 71, 2008 (as amended), which came into effect on 1 May 2011. In terms of the new Act SAAFP now is a "Non Profit Company" designated "NPC".
The SAAFP is governed by its Council (Board of Directors) as a collective, which is elected and nominated by its members every three years.
The Council elects an executive committee, consisting of the President, vice-president, treasurer, secretary and two additional members. The role and function of the Executive Committee is to be responsible for the day to day administration and control of the Council’s business affairs and all decisions of the EC must be ratified by the Council. The role of the Council office bearers are described in the Articles of Association.
